Alexander McQeen has been one of my long time fashion icons. His innovative and avant-garde designs truly encompassed the ART in fashion. And his inventive fashion shows inspired and entertained his audiences.

In the wake of his unforeseeable death, I wanted to tribute him in this Favorite THANGS Friday.

Alexander McQueen come from humble beginnings. He was born and raised in London to a family of 6 children. He was the baby of the family. He left school at the age of 16 and was immediately offered an apprenticeship at the traditional Saville Row tailors Anderson and Shephard and then at neighbouring Gieves and Hawkes, both masters in the technical construction of clothing.

 

In less than 10 years McQueen became one of the most respected fashion designers in the world.
